The problem here is that it's actually better to do the munchkin-y thing, because if you try to do it as a straight class cleric, when you finally enter into the class at 8th level, the things you can summon are at least one level behind the power curve. You could also meet it at third as a Monk/Paladin/Cleric. You could meet the prereq at 7th level as a straight class cleric. What they actually do is promote multi-classing munchkinism. What Base Save requirements are for is to create a level barrier, and to ensure that certain classes really aren't eligible. This one's a little less straight forward. So now that we've covered that, lets move on to that Saving throw requirement. Guess what a Shadow's con score is? Now guess what it's strength score is?
